Secure grip for any terrain: Boots and their functionality

As far as our feet carry us... Adventurers in leisure or profession do not want to be limited. Endurance largely depends on the quality and suitability of the boots.

Weather aspects

Those who rarely treat themselves to functional footwear are surprised by the extensive selection at ASMC. However, this is the only way to find the right boots for the intended range of use. As expected, the models meet the demands of different seasons in terms of material composition. While some models simply complement the outfit stylishly or protect against moisture, others focus on warming properties or comprehensive cold protection. Summer boots for trekking or outdoor activities also ensure a healthy foot climate at high outdoor temperatures and avoid metal parts when lacing.

Aspects of terrain

Apart from the characteristic suitability for weather conditions and comfort, the choice of boots also depends on the appropriate sole. It is very revealing to consciously examine the profiles of the product range at ASMC. Renowned brands are aware that each terrain comes with specific requirements. The pronounced structure in a mountain boot must provide as much grip on vegetative ground as on loose rock. In jungle expeditions, grip is required on slippery sections. However, the profile must not immediately clog with loose ground material. During ambitious missions in the city, the base of the boots must also prove itself during mountain sprints on asphalt or daring leaps from heights. Especially in work boots, it is important that the sole is not attacked by acids and allows safe steps on "explosive" ground. On horseback, smooth facts are preferred in boots. This allows for sensitive actions during galloping. Gaiters perfectly complement this selection by providing additional protection against moisture and dirt, protecting the legs from injuries from underbrush, and improving thermal insulation, which can be particularly advantageous in extreme weather conditions.

Expert tip: Step-by-step to a well-laced shoe

Tying shoes is considered a non-demanding task. However, there are some tricks that make walking easier.
With targeted lacing techniques, many problems can be avoided from the outset. A major problem for many is the heel. Often it is narrower than the heel box. This causes the foot to slide up with every step. With boots with so-called "deep pull hooks," the heel fit can be improved using a bottle pull lacing technique: Thread the laces through both deep pull hooks. Then lead the opposite laces under this deep pull hook connection. Pulling both laces tight will press the foot into the heel box. Finally, lace the shoe as usual in a cross pattern.
If there is pressure on the instep (foot arch), it is advisable to thread the laces at the level of the pressure point instead of crossing through two eyelets on the same side. This allows the shoe to expand.

Questions: Boots

What size is the right one?

There is no general answer as shoe sizes are not standardized.
Since you slide forward when walking downhill, there should be enough space to prevent bumping. Approximately 1cm of space should be from the toe to the shoe.

What else should be considered when trying on?

Boots should be purchased in the evening, not in the morning. During the day, feet swell, so the size may be a bit tight then.

It's best to wear the socks that you will also wear in the shoe.
