The optimal wristwatch accompanies one in all areas of use

Depending on its equipment, it not only measures time but also provides direction and altitude information. With wristwatches from the ASMC watch shop, you'll always have perfect timing.

What should be considered when using watches?

The basic use of our watches, reading the time, is self-explanatory. However, studying the user manual can provide valuable insights into the individual functions and features of the watches. Watches and their corresponding straps from our range are intended to provide their wearer with an accurate and comfortable estimation of time. Additionally, a timer can be set or a stopwatch used. Periodically, the watch battery should be replaced to prevent it from suddenly failing during use. Typically, these batteries last up to five years.

Which watch is right for me?

Many of our men's watches feature a red second hand, enabling precise tactical deployment. Luminous coatings on the hands (usually employing one of the three techniques: fluorescence, phosphorescence, or cathodo-luminescence) allow for professional use even in dark environments. The cases are securely sealed and are difficult to damage due to special hardening. The polish of the watch glass is usually anti-reflective, preventing the formation of telltale light reflections. Depending on the application, the watch should be waterproof, allowing it to be used not only in adverse weather conditions but also during dives. It's essential to assess the intended use since water resistance varies in several stages. Weight is usually not a concern when selecting a suitable watch; it is so minimal that it is of little significance. Nevertheless, models range from retro-styled watches to XXL watches, catering to every type.

Expert Tip: How to Build a Temporary Sundial?

Here's how: Transform your hand into a sundial:

For the sundial, you need a small stick. Place the stick in your palm and secure it with your thumb. Now you have the pointer. In the morning, place the pointer in your left hand. The hand should be flat and pointing west, where the sun will set in the evening. In the afternoon, place the pointer in your right hand. Hold the hand pointing east, the direction where the sun rises in the morning. Now you just need to know where the numbers are on your hand. And voila, you have the time. At least you can get an approximate time without any further technical aids.

Questions: Wristwatches

How to deal with scratches on the glass?

You can work on small, shallow scratches on the glass with toothpaste. However, deeper scratches should be handled with care using special glass polishing agents. In both cases, it's advisable to test the abrasive performance on an old, no longer needed watch beforehand.

What to do about water stains on a leather strap?

Water stains can be removed effectively with a cut onion or a cloth soaked in milk. Rub the leather quickly with half an onion or a cloth soaked in milk and then let it dry. Whichever method you choose, it's crucial that the treated area is thoroughly dried and the leather is subsequently treated with a leather care product.

How to remove grease stains from leather?

It's best to remove such stains with a fat-absorbing stain remover spray or try using leather soap (also known as leather gum).

How to change button cell batteries yourself?

To change the battery, you should have a watchmaker's screwdriver to properly release the tiny screws that usually secure a spring clip for the button cell. Depending on the battery holder's design, the button cell can be easily removed using a watchmaker's screwdriver or tweezers (be sure to use plastic tweezers!). Before disassembling for the first time, carefully examine the inside of the watch and make notes on the position of retaining springs, cover foils, etc., or even take a (macro) photo. You can find out which type of battery you need from the user manual or, in most cases, from the head of the old battery. You don't necessarily have to use the same type of battery again if it's not available; you can possibly find appropriate equivalents using a comparison table. However, it's essential to ensure the battery has the same dimensions and voltage.

The watch glass is fogged from the inside, what should I do?

Place the watch in a warm place to dry or in a bag of rice, which quickly absorbs moisture. However, the better alternative would be to take it to a watchmaker for cleaning, possibly even replacing the sealing ring.

On which side should a wristwatch be worn?

Since there have always been more right-handed than left-handed people, the small crown for winding was placed so that it could be reached and turned with the right, or "strong," hand. However, this is only possible if the watch is worn on the left wrist. The classic way to wear it is on the left wrist. However, you can wear it on whichever wrist you prefer.

What is a helium valve?

The helium valve is a pressure relief valve that allows any helium trapped inside the watch to escape to the outside. But how does helium get into the watch in the first place? This is only relevant for divers who either dive with a diving bell (less common) or with a decompression chamber. Due to its much smaller molecules (compared to air), helium deposits inside the watch despite the seals. If a diving watch does not have such a valve, the glass could potentially be blown off in the worst case scenario.

What is a "TriSnap" closure on wristwatches?

The TriSnap closure is a safety clasp. It is a triple-secured (wristband) closure, almost 100% secure from opening accidentally or unintentionally.
